The U.S., however, has turned down every effort of the DPRK and intensified the scheme to stifle it.

Since it became clear that either a world body or an international treaty was abused as a tool to justify the U.S. arbitrary practices, instead of preventing them, the DPRK decisively quitted the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and built its nuclear deterrent to defend itself from the growing nuclear threat by the U.S.

The DPRK's gaining of position as a full-fledged nuclear weapons state finally put an end to nuclear imbalance state on the Korean Peninsula, the article stressed.
