Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- Some time ago, the DPRK observed the 65th anniversary of the first stamps in the country. The first stamps "Althea" and "Samsonam" were brought out on March 12, Juche 35 (1946). A stamp with a picture of President Kim Il Sung was issued to commemorate August 15 that year, the first anniversary of the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule. Sixteen kinds of stamps came out in the period of the building of a new country, including "Owner of Land" and "2nd Anniversary of Labor Law". "Liberation of Seoul", "For the Final Victory", "Day of Struggle against U.S. Imperialists", "May Day", "DPRK-China Friendship", "4th World Festival of Youth and Students" and other stamps were published in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War. Many souvenir stamps were also brought out in the periods of postwar rehabilitation and construction, socialist construction and the "Arduous March", the forced march. Many of the stamps published in the country show achievements made in the political, military, economic and cultural fields. |
