They were to commemorate President Kim Il Sung's birth anniversary, the 18th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and the 79th birthday of the Korean People's Army.

The struggle of the Korean people to liberate the nation and build a new society and socialism is associated with the august name of President Kim Il Sung, said Miroslav Stepan, general secretary of the C.C., the Czechoslovak Communist Party (CCP).

The CCP has General Secretary Kim Jong Il as its honorary member, the general secretary said, declaring that the Party would always extend full support and solidarity to the leader's cause, the cause of the Korean people for socialism and national reunification no matter which way the wind may blow.

Ahmed Blaza Lawan, chairman of the Nigerian Group for the Study of the Songun Politics, detailed the contents of Kim Jong Il's work "On Preserving the Juche Character and National Character of the Revolution and Construction" and its significance.
