US MD Will Prove Ineffective--Russian Designer

Moscow, March 22 (KCNA) -- The chief designer of the Moscow Heat Engineering Institute of Russia at a recent press conference expressed his stand that the U.S. missile defense system will not prove effective in the near few years.

Evaluating the U.S. MD plan, he said that it will not be possible both at present and in the future to technically solve the issue of intercepting an object moving at the speed of 10km per second.

Another issue that can not see a technical solution is for the MD to distinguish a true target from dozens of false ones, he said.

From the prospective viewpoint, the U.S. MD does not pose any threat to the strategic nuclear forces of Russia, he added.
