Chinese FM Spokeswoman on Measures Following Nuclear Crisis in Japan
Beijing, March 24 (KCNA) -- A spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry of China, at a briefing on March 22, referred to China's steps following the accident at nuclear power plant in Japan.

She said that the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine requested the inspection and quarantine offices to carry out substantial examinations at ports and scan foodstuffs imported from Japan for radiation exposure in view of the severity of the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

China is deeply concerned about the release of radioactive materials into the atmosphere from the troubled power plant, she said.

China considers that the accident put the whole world on alert, she said, hoping that Japan would provide the world with timely, accurate and comprehensive information.
