At an inaugural ceremony Roberto Gabriele, general secretary of the Movement for Peace and Socialism of Italy, and Miriam Pelegrini Feri, president of the Group of Dialectical Materialists of Italy, were elected co-chairmen of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to widely organize diverse events to praise the President and leader Kim Jong Il for their undying feats and conduct broad activities to give wide publicity to them on the occasion of the Day of the Sun.
