The statement accused the United States of illegally occupying south Korea in 1945 prompted by its strategic interests, thus dividing the peninsula.

Its fuss about the "threat from the north" is aimed to justify its occupation of south Korea and convert the Korean Peninsula into a stronghold of strategic importance in invading Northeast Asia, the statement said.

It denounced the U.S.-south Korea joint military exercises aimed at invading the DPRK and called for ensuring peace on the peninsula.

It expressed full solidarity with the Korean people's just struggle against the joint military exercises.
