Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Nung Su, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned and exemplary athletes, coaches, scientists and researchers in the field of sports and officials of related organs.

Prior to the meeting, its participants heard the recorded speech "Let Us Develop Physical Culture and Sports on a Mass Basis and Prepare All the People for Labour and Defence" made by President Kim Il Sung at the National Conference of Athletes on November 4, 1969.

The meeting discussed the tasks and ways for bringing about fresh progress in the physical culture.

Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Pak Myong Chol made areport at the meeting which was followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers noted that General Secretary Kim Jong Il adopted it as the basic sports policy of the WPK to popularize sports and energetically led the work to realize it, they pointed out.

They told that he defined the ideological campaign, fighting spirit, speed campaign and means of technique as method for sure victory of the Juche-based sports and has taken warm care of the sportspersons' living.

Calling for priority efforts on the development of events that serve as icons of the DPRK and hopeful events, they underlined the need to key up the interest of the whole society and state in football.

They stressed that the officials, players and coaches should display the dignity and honor of Songun Korea by snatching many more gold medals.
