He said that concerns were expressed over the meltdown of fuel rods at reactors already long ago but the nuclear security board, TEPCO and the government shunned giving a clarification of them.

He said that repeating such work as dousing the nuclear power plant with water or opening valves without taking any positive steps may lead to the spread of radioactive substance to larger areas, expanding the contamination.

He noted that if things are allowed to go on like now without taking any decisive measures, the whole of Japan will find itself in mayhem.
