Russia issued a 2011-2020 program for the strengthening of strategic forces and allocated a large amount of money for the project. The amount is three times that of the previous program.

The Russian prime minister told a recent meeting for the implementation of the new program that the country would double the manufacture of strategic and tactical missiles from 2013. If the program was implemented, the Russian army will be supplied with more than 1,300 varieties of new equipment and weapons and its modern arms will reach 70 percent, he said.

The Russian government has paid a primary attention to the manufacture of up-to-date missiles to cope with the missile defense system the United States plans to deploy in Europe against Russia's intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Russia is now developing new kinds of ballistic missile and submarine.
