It was founded on March 28, Juche 70 (1981) on the motion of President Kim Il Sung.

He underscored the need to found the college for the development of the country's agricultural science and technology, chose the site of the college and took measures for building it as quickly as possible.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il has guided the college to train many agricultural experts by improving the contents of education and intensifying scientific researches to suit the developing situation.

He sent modern experimental apparatuses and other teaching tools to the college on several occasions to consolidate its material and technical foundations.

The college had only some twenty teachers when it was founded. But now it has several departments, laboratories, a doctoral institute and a research institute.

Some of its graduates became winners of the titles of People's Scientist and Merited Scientist, professors and doctors for their contribution to the agricultural development of the country.
