Korean Jewel Painting

Pyongyang, April 1 (KCNA) -- Jewel painting is a special form of pictorial art created by the Korean people. The form was created in the 1980s, called Korean jewel painting, in order to keep art works from becoming discolored. A Korean jewel painting group was organized at the Mansudae Art Studio. The jewel painting opened a new chapter in the development of the Juche-based fine art, winning a great popularity in the world. Its material is powdered natural jewel or paste. The jewel painting is characterized by elegant colors and a mixture of arts and crafts. Local people and foreign tourists enjoy Korean jewel paintings at the Korean Art Gallery, Mansudae Art Studio and other places. |
