The pleasure resort, involving some islets, ponds, groves, flowerbeds, amusement facilities and boating and staking grounds, covers more than 360 hectares.

On the banks of the river there are streets with many apartment houses, including Mansudae, Chollima and Changgwangwon streets.

The river is also flanked with the Pothong River Improvement Project Memorial Tower, the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial Tower, the People's Palace of Culture, the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, the Ice Rink, the Changgwang Health Complex and other sports and tourist facilities.
