Preparations for the new school year ranging from school fixtures to school uniforms and supplies were completed at schools throughout the country.

Opening ceremonies of the school year have been held at all universities, colleges and primary and secondary schools on Friday.

At Pyongyang Secondary School No. 1, newcomers entered the campus together with their parents, welcomed by teachers and students with brass and ticker tapes.

Ri Kwi Suk, a teacher of the school, told KCNA that she is proud of teaching children.

Wi Mun, a new pupil, vowed to study hard to become a scientist.

The opening ceremony was followed by the first class.
