President Kim Il Sung convened an enlarged meeting of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in April Juche 50 (1961) in Pukchong County, South Hamgyong Province. At the meeting, he called for launching a nationwide effort for building orchards throughout the country and developing fruit farming in an extensive way.
