Fiji PM Emphasizes Importance of Melanesian Solidarity

Pyongyang, April 4 (KCNA) -- Fiji's Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama emphasized the importance of solidarity among Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) countries for regional development. He said this at the 18th MSG summit on Mar. 31.

Bainimarama called for regional cooperation, understanding and assistance while seeking to improve the living conditions of peoples.

Bainimarama said that the Melanesian group has the bulk of the Southern Pacific Island population and bulk of the trade and natural resources. "We must shoulder this responsibility with wisdom, collaboration and respect for their sovereignty."
