Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- As part of the spring tree-planting campaign in the DPRK, many trees have been planted at the Revolutionary Site on Munsu Hill in Pyongyang.
On April 6, Juche 36 (1947), President Kim Il Sung, together with anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk and Kim Jong Il, climbed the hill and planted trees to kick off a nationwide forestation movement. After planting trees together with Pyongyang citizens, the President commanded a bird's-eye view of Pyongyang and called for turning the capital into a beautiful city and converting the hill into a public recreation ground. That day Kim Jong Suk met with some women and underscored the need to plant many trees in mountains, true to the intention of the President. Larch trees planted on the hill by the three commanders of Mt. Paektu are still growing well. There is a monument to their tree planting on the hill. |
