The April 3 resistance dealt a heavy blow at the plots of the U.S. imperialists and pro-American stooges to establish a separate "government". This great struggle showed how ardent and urgent the desire of the Korean nation to build an independent and sovereign state and reunify the country was, the statement said.

The uprisers' voices condemning the U.S. imperialists and traitor Syngman Rhee that day seem to ring out still today, it noted.

It stressed that the people from all walks of life should wage a more dynamic struggle to build a reunified country by putting an end to the foreign domination and interference and implementing the June 15 joint declaration in the same spirit of independence and unity as displayed by the uprisers.
