The commentary recalled that the ministry that day turned down the application made by south Korean non-governmental organizations for having contact for holding talks with the north under the pretext of the present inter-Korean relations.

The inter-Korean relations are going from bad to worse because the authorities are spearheading the confrontation with the north and encouraging conservative organizations in their anti-DPRK leaflet-scattering campaigns, while shifting the blame for the "Cheonan" warship sinking case and the Yonphyong Island shelling case onto the north, it held, and continued:

The non-governmental organizations' proposed contact with the north was prompted by their desire to defuse the confrontation.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of Unification disallowed the contact, asserting that it is not appropriate to have any contact with the north. This action stemmed from its consciousness of confrontation.

It is deplorable, indeed, that the inter-Korean cooperation and exchange are being blocked due to the traitors' consciousness of confrontation.

The Ministry of Unification would be well advised to properly know about the resentment of the people.
