The work serves as a political programme as it clearly indicates the orientation and ways for accomplishing the cause of national reunification by the concerted efforts of the whole nation, the statement said.

The patriotic idea of great national unity enunciated by the President is being successfully carried forward by General Secretary Kim Jong Il, it noted.

It is an event to be specially recorded in the history of the reunification movement that Kim Jong Il provided the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, bringing about an epochal phase of independent reunification and great national unity, it said.

It denounced the present ruling forces of south Korea for bringing to collapse the north-south relations which had headed toward reconciliation and unity, turning their faces away from the magnanimous steps of the DPRK while seeking confrontation with it, and getting frantic in their anti-DPRK smear campaign and moves for a war against it.

The Koreans will never allow any moves against national unity and reunification, the statement said, demanding the south Korean authorities opt for sincere dialogue with the DPRK at an early date.
