The statement praised the undying feats performed by the President and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, in the struggle to achieve the independent reunification of the country.

The 10-point programme which reflected the noble and patriotic intention of the President is an immortal great programme for reunification as it ushered in the historic June 15 era of reunification, it said, and went on:

We express the expectation and conviction that all the Koreans will wage a more dynamic struggle to improve the inter-Korean relations and reunify the country under the slogan "Let all Koreans in the north, south and abroad join efforts and bring a new phase of independent reunification!" this year.

We highly estimate the invariable and patriotic efforts of the WPK and the DPRK government to improve the inter-Korean relations through national unity and cooperation and achieve a peaceful reunification and fully support the recent proposal of the DPRK for dialogue to reunify the country.

We call upon the political parties, governments and organizations of all countries, international bodies and progressives aspiring after the improved north-south relations and reunification of Korea to voice more powerful support for the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle to achieve the cause of national reunification according to the 10-point programme and the historic north-south joint declarations.
