Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino Tuesday announced at a press conference that the U.S. ambassador groundlessly heaped slanders and calumnies on the National Police chief.

In this regard Ecuador's government declared the U.S. ambassador to the country "persona non grata" and asked her to leave the country as soon as possible, he said.
