13th Kimilsungia Festival Opens

Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The 13th Kimilsungia Festival was opened with due ceremony here on Wednesday to commemorate the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. On display at its venue are nearly 20,000 potted flowers in praise of the great man presented by armed forces organs, ministries, national institutions and many other units, soldiers, working people of different strata and school youth and children of the DPRK, the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and overseas compatriots, embassies of different countries and missions of international organizations here, friendship and solidarity organizations and personages of various countries, members of the associations for supporting the propagation of immortal flowers in different countries and Chinese residents in the DPRK with their sincerity. Attending the ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop and officials of ministries, national institutions and working people's organizations, soldiers and working people, and overseas Koreans delegations and overseas compatriots. Present on invitation were an Indonesian government cultural delegation led by Hari Untoro Dradjat, senior advisor for multiculture of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Indonesian Ambassador to the DPRK Nasri Gustaman and his embassy officials and other foreign guests. An Tong Chun, DPRK minister of Culture, said in his opening address that this festival would display the faith and will of the Korean army and people to hold the President in high esteem for all ages and work hard for building a thriving nation and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche under the leadership of Kim Jong Il. It will also show the unbounded reverence of all people for the President, peerlessly great man, he added. Hari Untoro Dradjat made a congratulatory speech. Kimilsungia has become a pride of the Korean nation and a symbol of the eternal relations of friendship between Indonesia and the DPRK since President Sukarno presented this newly-bred flower to President Kim Il Sung, he said. |
