Present at the closing ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kang Nung Su, vice-premier of the Cabinet, An Tong Chun, minister of Culture who is chairman of the festival organizing committee, Ryang Man Gil, chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee, officials concerned, working people in the city, foreign artistes, overseas Korean artistes, foreign delegations, diplomatic envoys of various countries, representatives of international organizations and staff members of foreign embassies here, foreign guests and overseas Koreans.

Diplomas, gold and silver cups and gold and silver statuettes and prize money were awarded to successful participants at the ceremony.

A letter of thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il from the participants in the festival was adopted at the closing ceremony.

An Tong Chun said in his closing address that the festival provided artistes of various countries and overseas Korean artistes with a good occasion of swapping the successes and experience gained in the development of national culture and arts, deepening friendship and boosting the cultural exchange.

The festival organizing committee will work hard to make the next festival the most splendid international art festival in order to greet the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung as the greatest holiday and grand auspicious event in the human history, he stressed.

Then followed a closing performance by foreign artistes and overseas Korean artistes.
