DPRK Anniversaries Marked in Different Countries

Pyongyang, April 19 (KCNA) -- Events took place in different countries between April 4 and 7 to commemorate the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the 18th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and the 79th birthday of the Korean People's Army. They included seminars, round-table talks, reading sessions, lectures, photo exhibitions and film shows in Nepal, Myanmar, the Czech Republic and Guinea. On display in the venues of exhibitions were photos showing the revolutionary history and exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the Korean people in the efforts to build a thriving nation. Films shown included "Country Shining with Arms of Mt. Paektu". The chief of the International Department of the C.C., the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party and the chairman of the Nepal-Korea Friendship Association at a seminar praised Kim Il Sung as the most prominent leader in the 20th century, recalling his revolutionary life. They also noted with high appreciation that Kim Jong Il has performed undying feats for the Korean revolution and global independence. The chief of the International Department of the Union Solidarity and Development Party, Union of Myanmar said at the round-table talks that the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung enabled the Korean people to liberate the country, win the Fatherland Liberation War and reliably defend socialism despite the imperialists' moves against the DPRK. The President's exploits have been successfully carried forward by Kim Jong Il, said the chairman of the Paektusan Czech-Korean Friendship Association at a seminar. The director general of the Kim Il Sung Institute of Agricultural Science in Guinea at a reading session stressed that socialist Korea would prosper forever as it has the great Songun politics and the powerful and revolutionary Korean People's Army. A message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at an event in Nepal. |
