Kim Jong Il Inspects Newly Built Foodstuff Factory
Pyongyang, April 20 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to the newly built Susongchon General Foodstuff Factory in North Hamgyong Province.

After being briefed on the factory before a huge map showing the panoramic view of the factory, Kim Jong Il went round various production processes including candy, biscuit, bread and wine shops to learn in detail about the technical equipment and production there.

Modern foodstuff factories have been built in every province of the country following the example set by the Samilpho Special Products Factory to pay off profusely, he said, adding that this proves that our officials are able to bring about a signal turn in improving the standard of people's living when they work hard, bravely overcoming bottlenecks and difficulties under the uplifted slogan of the party "We serve the people!"

Then he listened to songs full of optimism presented by officials and workers of the factory. Noting that for the workers of the country work precisely means songs and joy, he added that is the rich emotion of the workers who have become the master of the country and the factory.

Pointing out that the factory has an important duty and role to perform in improving the diet of the people in the province, he put forward tasks to be fulfilled by the factory.

It is the consistent policy maintained by the WPK in the building of light industry to develop light industry on the basis of natural resources and materials available in the country, he said, underscoring the need for the factory to pay primary attention to the work to actively tap and use the locally available raw materials in order to ensure stable production at it.

In order to keep the foodstuff in best quality at the factory, it should ensure the quality, purity and size of raw and other materials as required by science and technology and establish a strict regulation and order for thoroughly meeting the needs of technical rules and standard regulations of operation, he said.

He expressed expectation and belief that the employees of the factory would make a greater leap forward in the production as required by the stirring era when a great drive is now making dynamic progress to build a thriving nation.

He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Kyong Hui, member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK, Jang Song Thaek, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, Thae Jong Su, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Ju Kyu Chang, alternate member of the Political Bureau and department director of the C.C., the WPK.
