The International Maritime Organization in a report on April 14 said that 142 cases of piracy were perpetrated in oceans and seas of the world in the first quarter of this year.

It was reported that 97 cases of piracy were committed in the waters off Somalia, an increase of 35 cases over that in the same period of last year.
