Meeting Held to Express Thanks to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- A meeting of officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and compatriots was held at the Korean Hall in Tokyo on April 21 to express thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il for sending educational aid fund and stipends for the children of Koreans in Japan.

Present there were Pae Jin Gu, vice-chairman and concurrently director general of the General Affairs Department of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, Kim Sun Chol, director of the Education Department of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, leading officials of organizations and enterprises, teachers of Korean schools, Korean scientists and students studying at Japanese universities and compatriots.

Ku Tae Sok, chairman of the Central Standing Council of the Korean Educational Association in Japan, said in his report that Kim Jong Il sent the 157th installment of educational aid fund and stipends on the occasion of the significant Day of the Sun, extending profound thanks to him.

He said that the compatriots in Japan are deeply moved to receive the warm loving care shown again by Kim Jong Il in the wake of his sending of relief fund to the Koreans in Japan who suffered great damage due to the massive earthquake and the ensuing tsunami. President Kim Il Sung sent educational aid fund and stipends to the children of the compatriots who were undergoing sufferings in the alien land during the arduous and grim period when the people in the homeland were busy with the post-war rehabilitation and construction, he recalled, adding that this loving history is given steady continuity by Kim Jong Il.
