Benevolent Politics for Great National Unity
Pyongyang, April 23 (KCNA) -- The patriotic and benevolent politics pursued by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il encouraged Korean people of various social strata to turn out in the effort for the country's reunification.

President Kim Il Sung invited Kim Ku, a die-hard nationalist of south Korea, to the historic joint conference of representatives of political parties and public organizations in north and south Korea in Pyongyang in April Juche 37 (1948), with no regard to his anti-communist career.

He valued patriotism more than any political view. Touched by his benevolent politics, south Koreans who had been active in the political, military, business and religious circles in south Korea started with a clean slate.

His idea of great national unity has been successfully carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il.

When Jong Ju Yong, honorary chairman of the Hyundai Group of south Korea, joined in the effort for national reunification, the leader appreciated his patriotic decision.

When he died, Kim Jong Il sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family and dispatched a delegation of mourners to Seoul along with a wreath. He also took measures to let Jong's patriotic effort for the country's reunification go down through generations.

Kim Jong Il's benevolent and all-embracing politics ushered in an era of achieving national reunification in line with the June 15 north-south joint declaration.

His policy and idea for great national unity and reunification enjoy full support from all Koreans at home and abroad.
