Floral Baskets Laid at Martyrs Cemeteries and Memorial Tower

Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery and floral baskets before the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial Tower on Monday on the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Korean People's Army. Seen at the wreath-laying stands of the cemeteries were wreaths sent by Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the KPA. Present at the wreath and floral basket laying ceremonies were senior officials of the party, army and state, a chairperson of a friendly party, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces and working people in Pyongyang. They placed bouquets and flowers before the bust of Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese war hero, at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong. Wreaths in the name of the WPK Central Committee and the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet of the DPRK were laid on the wreath-laying stands of the cemeteries. And a floral basket in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee and the WPK Central Military Commission was laid before the main theme sculpture "Victory" of the memorial tower. Also placed there were wreaths and floral baskets in the name of the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the Ministry of People's Security, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, units of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, scientific, educational, cultural and arts, public health and media organs, and party and power bodies, industrial establishments, farms and schools here. The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the martyrs and paid tribute to the servicepersons of the KPA who performed feats in the war. The military attaches corps here laid a wreath before the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and a floral basket before the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial Tower on the same day. They laid bouquets before the bust of Kim Jong Suk at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong. A wreath and a floral basket in the name of the corps were laid on the wreath-laying stand of the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery and before the main theme sculpture of the memorial tower. Wreaths were laid before the statues of martyrs, monuments to fallen fighters of the KPA, martyrs' cemeteries and graves of martyrs in different parts of the country on the same day. |
