The statement recalled that a meeting of vice-ministers of foreign affairs and defense between south Korea and the U.S. would be held in Washington on April 26.

It noted:

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the follow-up measures for implementing what was debated at the talks between the ministers of foreign affairs and defense in July last year and the talks between the ministers of foreign affairs on April 16 this year. It will take up the issues of realizing the "strategic flexibility" of the U.S. forces present in south Korea and boosting cooperation and alliance with the U.S. and military cooperation among south Korea, the U.S. and Japan and other issues.

The statement accused the U.S. of seeking to further subjugate south Korea in the military and economic fields and the authorities of fully meeting the U.S. brigandish demands.

It demanded the authorities scrap at once the aggressive and humiliating military alliance with the U.S. at once as it runs counter to independence and peaceful reunification on the Korean Peninsula.
