Halt to Construction of Naval Base on Jeju Island Demanded

Pyongyang, April 30 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the five opposition parties of south Korea on Jeju Island including the Democratic Labor Party and the Democratic Party visited the group building the naval base in Sogwipho City, Jeju Island on April 27 and demanded a halt to the construction.

The vital rights of the inhabitants of the region are threatened by the unreasonable construction of the naval base by the military authorities, they said, demanding an immediate halt to the project, they held.

Then they visited the Jeju Local Police Agency and the Sogwipho Police Station to lodge a protest and demand them stop their reckless suppression of the protestors against the construction.
