Kim Il Sung's Birth Anniversary Commemorated

Pyongyang, May 1 (KCNA) -- The birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung was commemorated in the DPRK missions in foreign countries and regions. They included those in Cambodia, Syria, Iran, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Czech Republic, Britain, Switzerland, France, Peru, Shenyang and Hong Kong of China and Nakhodka of Russia, the DPRK permanent mission at the UN Office in Geneva and international organizations and the DPRK permanent mission at the UN. Events held between March 31 and April 14 included receptions, meetings, book and photo exhibitions and film shows.

Displayed in the venues were books and photos introducing the revolutionary life of the President and the Songun leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il and photos showing the struggle of the Korean people in building a great prosperous and powerful nation.

Films shown included Korean films "For Liberation of the Country", "The Arch of Triumph" and "The Faith of Korea."

The minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia said that the President is the eternal leader of the DPRK who liberated Korea from the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists, firmly defended the sovereignty of the country from the aggression by foreign forces and built an invincible socialist power.

He expressed hope that the friendly and cooperative relations between Cambodia and the DPRK provided by Great King Norodom Sihanouk and President Kim Il Sung would continue to favorably develop.

The deputy chief of the General Staff of the General Command of Armed Forces of Iran said that Kim Il Sung was a great man who wisely led the cause of global independence, adding that the Iranian people would never forget the support and encouragement he extended to them.

The vice-chairman and concurrently international secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) said that it is great fortune of the Korean people and other world revolutionary people to hold in high esteem Kim Jong Il who is identical to the President.
