The statement said:

The Association strongly condemns the south Korean authorities for having kidnapped and detained citizens of the DPRK in disaster and persistently forced them to "defect" to the south, instead of rescuing and helping them go back to their home on the principle of humanitarianism, and made all sorts of attempts to obstruct their repatriation, and demands an apology for such behavior.

This inhumane deed is aimed to escalate the confrontation with fellow countrymen and scuttle the north-south dialogue.

The south Korean authorities should not seek national confrontation and division, going against the trend of the times but make sincere efforts to ensure detente and lasting peace of the Korean Peninsula directly related to world peace and security.
