China Calls for Boosting Cooperation in Security Field

Beijing, May 1 (KCNA) -- Meng Jianzhu, state councilor of China and minister of Public Security, called for strengthening the cooperation among the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the security field. He said this, when addressing the 6th meeting of the secretaries-general of the Security Council of the member states of SCO held in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 29.

Terrorism, separatism and extremism still pose a serious threat to the regional security and stability, he said, adding that it is a realistic demand of all sides for deepening the cooperation to deal blows at these three forces, drug trafficking and other criminal acts.

China is ready to make a greater contribution to defending regional and world peace and stability and prosperity by joining various sides in the efforts to maintain close cooperation and coordination and put spurs to the steady sound development of SCO, he emphasized.
