13th Pyongyang Symposium on Medical Science Held
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The 13th Pyongyang symposium on medical science of Koreans at home and abroad took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Present there were officials in the field of public health including Ri Pong Hun, chairman of the C.C., the Medical Association of Korea, and medical scientists and members of the delegation of the Korean Health Workers Association in Japan led by Chairman Kim Yong Il.

Ri Pong Hun in his opening address hoped that the symposium would make positive contribution to the development of the nation's medical science and prosperity of the country in the idea of "By our nation itself".

Kim Yong Il in his congratulatory speech called on the Korean medical workers in the north and the south and abroad to contribute to developing the medical science of the nation and achieving national reunification.

The symposium heard such papers as "A clinical study on cardiac valve replacement by right anteriothoracotomy," "A clinical study on the establishment of rational cardiopulmonary bypass method for primary repair of Tetralogy of Fallot," "The study on the growth and its characteristics in triplets," "The study to elucidate the character of some hormone and ferment revels according to constitutional types" and "The study for the clinical effect of acne vulgaris with the rocking-wave electropharmotherapy controlling by computer and the improvement of the curative efficiency of acne vulgaris with the complex physical therapy."

Introduced in the papers were research achievements and experience gained in the course of settling the scientific and technological problems arising in practice of public health and applying the cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements to the prevention and treatment of diseases.

Diplomas were awarded to those who presented the papers at the symposium.
