Rungna Islet Pleasure Resort

Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Many people enjoy themselves on Rungna Islet in Pyongyang. Rungna Islet is floating in the middle of the River Taedong flowing across Pyongyang. The islet, famous for a willow grove, is one of the pleasure resorts in the city. President Kim Il Sung visited the islet in May Juche 55 (1966) and called for turning it into a recreation ground. The resort includes a boating ground, open-air swimming pool, football ground, tennis court and other sports and welfare service facilities. It also boasts of the May Day Stadium, which has been well known as the venue of the 13th World Festival of Youth and Students and the grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang". A grand magic performance is going on at the stadium. |
