National Scientific and Technological Exhibition Held

Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- The 7th national scientific and technological exhibition in the field of machine designing took place in Pyongyang from May 5 to 10. On display there were more than 300 machine designs presented by officials and working people in different units across the country, at least 50 designing research and support programs, 30 machine type designs for prize contest, etc. During the period of the exhibition, its participants swapped successes and experience gained in designing new type machines and putting them into practice. It also involved a contest in computer-aided designing. Drawing the attention of the visitors were designs for variety of products and peculiar designs for industrial art conducive to improving the standard of people's living. They included designs for heat pump for using geothermal water, automatic sock packing machine, designs for general testing appliances of CNC-based horizontal milling machine, equipment for the production of new essential foodstuff and confectionary and household articles. Designs for CNC-based machine tools and control apparatuses, papers on putting the methods of designing machines on a scientific and standardization basis and three-dimensional machine designing support programs and others were highly appreciated at the exhibition for their importance in bringing the science and technology on a higher level. A closing ceremony took place on Tuesday. Present there were Jo Pyong Ju, vice-premier of the Cabinet and minister of Machine-Building Industry, Ri Ja Bang, chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, officials concerned, officials, designers, creators, teachers and researchers in the fields of machine designing and industrial art studios from across the country, education and scientific research institutions and workers and technicians of industrial establishments. |
