Japanese Reactionaries' Disgusting Behavior Ridiculed
Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the U.S. newspaper Wall Street Journal carried an article and map properly calling Tok Islets and the East Sea of Korea.

No sooner had this report been released than the Japanese government dismissed this "unacceptable," describing it as something serious. It made much fuss, lodging a protest with Dow-Jones Company publishing the above-said newspaper.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a by-lined commentary in this regard:

What the Japanese government claimed is a nonsensical and far-fetched assertion.

It goes on:

Since olden times Tok Islets have been part of the territory of Korea and the sea between Korea and Japan has been called the East Sea of Korea.

The above-said facts are mentioned not only in historic documents of Korea but in most maps made by EU and U.S. scholars after the middle age.

This is quite natural in the light of international practice that any island can be designated on the principle of occupying ownerless land before any others in the world and a sea should be called by the name of the country on which it is bounded.

The above-said protest made by the Japanese government is a revelation of shameless nature and deep-seated bad habit peculiar to Japan.

This goes to prove that Japan's militarist ambition to grab other's territory has gone beyond the tolerance limit.

The above-mentioned protest of Japan is no more than a reckless militarist action and disgraceful behavior prompted by its sinister intention to convince the international community that Tok Islets belong to the country and there exists only the "Sea of Japan," not the East Sea of Korea.

Japan is making desperate efforts to deprive Korea of the names of Tok Islets and the East Sea of Korea in disregard of stark historical facts and international practice and principle concerning dominion over the island and the designation of sea. This is a repetition of the Japanese imperialists' invasion of Korea in the first half of the last century.

Japan would be well advised to properly understand the changed times and the world people's mindset and stop going reckless.
