Speakers at the press conference said that the workers declared the May struggle as they could no longer repress their wrath at the authorities' misrule.

They demanded that the "government" bear the responsibility for the murderous dismissal and provide a solution to it.

A press release read out at the conference stressed the need for all the workers to stage the anti-"government" struggle in close unity.

Press conferences by regional unions under the KCTU were simultaneously held in 15 areas of south Korea on the same day.
