Kamsalgu Tree Propagated

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- Kamsalgu (persimmon-apricot) tree has been multiplied throughout the DPRK. Ten years ago, the tree could be seen only in gardens of some farmhouses in Sinphyong County, North Hwanghae Province. According to data available, 120,000 trees of the species are now growing in many areas of the country. Two or three years after planting, the fragrant tree begins to bear flowers and fruits. Each fruit is 60-100 grams in weight and 11.8 percent in sugar amount. The high-yield tree is strong in resistance to epidemics and cold. The tree was named kamsalgu by President Kim Il Sung. |
