Meeting Marks Anniversary of Work of Kim Il Sung and Historic Letter of Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, May 17 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace of Culture Tuesday to mark the 50th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's work "On Giving Definite Precedence to Geological Prospecting" and the 20th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's letter "Let Us Bring about a Fresh Turn in Geological Prospecting". The President made public the work at the national consultative meeting of officials in the field of geological prospecting on May 15, Juche 50 (1961) in which he advanced principled matters and tasks for pushing the geological prospecting ahead of economic development. Kim Jong Il in his letter to the participants in the national meeting of officials in the field of geological prospecting on May 25, Juche 80 (1991), clarified fundamental principles, key tasks and orientation and ways of prospecting including the issue of keeping geological prospecting ahead of mining industry and land administration and concentrating the prospecting force on key projects. Attending the meeting were Premier Choe Yong Rim, Vice-Premier Jon Ha Chol, officials of ministries and national institutions, officials concerned, officials in the field of geological prospecting across the country and working people. Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier and chairman of the State Planning Commission, in a report said that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il set forth tasks for the field and ways of carrying them out and has wisely led the work to implement them. The President saw to it that the "DPRK Law on Underground Resources" was adopted which took great significance in providing legal and institutional guarantee for strengthening the geological prospecting, he said. He referred to the shining achievements made in the field under the wise guidance of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. All the successes gained in the past are a shining fruition of the wise guidance provided by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who indicated the path to be followed by the field of geological prospecting and provided guidance, he added. He called on all officials and members of the prospecting corps to explore more underground resources and give rise to the honor of victors in the general advance for the improvement of the people's living standards and the building of a thriving nation. |
