The north-south summit, held in Pyongyang in 2000 for the first time in the history of the Korean nation's division, and the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration there were an event of special significance that brought an epochal turn in the history of the movement for Korea's reunification, the statement said, adding:

The June 15 North-South Joint Declaration is a cornerstone for the development of inter-Korean relations and a great program for Korea's reunification as it indicates the ideological basis, fundamental principle and ways for achieving the reconciliation, unity and reunification of the Korean nation.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea invariably maintains the line of independence and peaceful reunification even now.

Disclosing that the present authorities of south Korea have totally denied the joint declaration, the statement demanded a prompt halt to such action.

The Korean people will surely achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country under the Songun politics of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
