Developing Countries Called upon to Develop Science and Technology
|

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- Developing countries should counter the scientific and technological blockade of the imperialists with strategies for scientific and technological development, firmly adhering to the principle of independence and self-reliance and thus explore new areas of modern science and technology and accelerate the independent development of the country. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a by-lined article. It goes on: The imperialists leave no stone unturned to monopolize science and technology in pursuance of their aggressive and predatory purposes. The imperialists bar developing countries from introducing scientific and technological research successes by putting up a variety of unreasonable conditions under the calculation that if science and technology are developed in those countries, it will make hard for them to realize their ambition for hegemony. Now that the imperialists are becoming craftier and more vicious in their moves to dominate and plunder other countries by means of science and technology, developing countries should counter the imperialists' scientific and technological blockade with their own scientific and technological development strategies. It is important for developing countries to develop science and technology by their own efforts as required by their specific conditions and realistic demand from the firm standpoint of Juche. When boosting the scientific and technological exchange with other countries and introducing new science and technology it is necessary to do so in conformity with the specific conditions of their countries. If developing countries encourage their people to fully display their efforts and wisdom and positively harness all the possibilities and potentials, they can reach a high level of the development of science and technology and achieve the independent development and prosperity of their countries by dint of modern science and technology. The experience gained by the DPRK in practice and its reality go to prove that if countries, though backward, buckle down to developing science and technology with a will from an independent and creative standpoint and on the principle of self-reliance, they can certainly achieve scientific and technological progress, concludes the article. |
