Merger of Opposition Parties Urged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, May 20 (KCNA) -- The Democratic Party of south Korea held a commemoration of the 31st anniversary of the Kwangju Popular Uprising, at which it called for merger of opposition parities, according to the KBS of south Korea on May 18.

Speakers at the commemoration said that regime change should be made without fail next year in the spirit of the Kwangju martyrs.

To this end, it is important to achieve merger of opposition parties, they stressed.

Saying that solidarity is part of the spirit displayed in the Kwangju uprising, they called for starting the discussion on formation of a unitary political party in opposition camp.
