The work published on May 21, Juche 80 (1991) clarified from fresh angle the essence, character and mission of architecture under socialism, position and role played by it in the development of society and fundamental issues in the creation of architecture under socialism based on scientific clarification of the relations between architecture and the society and between architecture and human.

Present there were Premier Choe Yong Rim, Minister of Construction and Building Materials Industry Tong Jong Ho, Minister of Urban Management Hwang Hak Won, Minister of Land and Environmental Conservation Kim Chang Ryong, officials of ministries and national institutions, architectural designers in Pyongyang and officials in the field of construction.

Minister of State Construction Control Pae Tal Jun who is chairman of the C.C., the Union of Architects of Korea, said that the work comprehensively and systematically deals with theoretical and practical issues arising in the creation of architecture under socialism from Juche-oriented stand.

Kim Jong Il aroused architects and builders to the struggle to bring into reality President Kim Il Sung's desire for building a rich and powerful country, the reporter said, and continued:

A land of bliss has been built in the era of Songun and great successes have been made in the efforts to improve the standard of people's living and build a thriving nation thanks to the patriotic devotion of Kim Jong Il.

The reporter called on officials and working people in the field to devote wisdom, talent and enthusiasm to the on-going general drive and thus make tangible contribution to accelerating the day of victory in building a thriving nation.
