IRNA recently posted an article titled "Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant-Manufacture of Secret Nuclear Weapons" on Internet homepage.

The troubled power plant has long been suspected of reprocessing plutonium and developing nuclear weapons, the article said, and went on:

The Japanese authorities disallowed the access to the plant by members of foreign rescue teams when catastrophic quake and tsunami created emergency at the power plant in March because they feared that the secret nuclear activities might be disclosed.

An underground tunnel was found near the nuclear reactor and two nuclear experts died for no specific reason and nuclear spent water contaminated by very high radiation leaked from the plant. All these facts prove that materials for the manufacture of nuclear weapons rather than those for the generation of energy were inside the reactor.

A particular note should be made of the fact that the Japanese authorities held all those concerned with the plant in an isolated area with no access to communications following the accident, the article said, adding that Japan's persistent denial of the nuclear cooperation with the U.S. clearly proves that it has confidentially pushed forward its nuclear weapons program.

The Russian Vostok Media quoted the former chief editor of the Japan Times as saying that the nuclear weapons were being developed at the power plant which the authorities tried to conceal. After the accident Japan tried to remove anything that can indicate the nuclear development, it added.

The media asserted that if it is true it should not be overlooked.
