U.S. Forces' Burial of Defoliant Exposed by S. Korean Media

Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- It was disclosed that the U.S. forces present in south Korea buried defoliant in their base in Waegwan, Chilgok County, North Kyongsang Province in 1978, Kyunghyang Daily News, Hangook Ilbo and other south Korean media said. This was disclosed by three ex-soldiers, who served at the U.S. military base in south Korea in those days, over a broadcasting service in Arizona State, the U.S. on May 16. They said that they buried in the land of the base 250 drums containing defoliant by an order of their officer. The quantity of the buried defoliant was 50 tons. Recalling that after being driven to the burial work, rashes were seen on their whole bodies and their feet were so paralyzed that they were unable to walk, they testified to the fact that they are still suffering from chronic arthritis, mental disorder, etc. though more than three decades have passed since then. |
