Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- Taehongdan in the northern part of the DPRK is a historic place where President Kim Il Sung fought a battle against the Japanese imperialists in May Juche 28 (1939) by leading a unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army. The Victorious Musan Area Battle Memorial Tower with the statue of the President in its center is conspicuous in the place in Taehongdan County, Ryanggang Province. The subsidiary sculptural groups in relief portray anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk, other guerrillas fighting against the Japanese imperialists and people aiding them with all sincerity. Preserved in the place are the sites where the President commanded the battle, an operation plan was mapped out, and guerrillas gathered before attacking the enemy, as well as a sentry, spring and machinegun platform. The historic place serves as a reminder of the great feats performed by the President in bringing the anti-Japanese armed struggle to victory. |
