U.S. and S. Korea Media Criticized for Hyping up DPRK's Cyber Warfare
Beijing, May 23 (KCNA) -- An expert in information security issue of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations at press conference with Huan Qiu Shibao on May 19 disclosed the aim sought by the mass media of the U.S. and south Korea in criticizing the cyber warfare armed forces of the DPRK.

The U.S. and south Korea are intentionally hyping up the DPRK's potentials. Lurking behind this is their strategic calculation to secure a pretext for boosting their cyber attack ability and developing their own cyber weapons.

In fact, in the wake of founding cyber warfare headquarters in January 2010 the south Korean military announced its plan to boost the cyber warfare armed forces and promoted the status of the headquarters to a unit directly under the Defense Ministry shortly ago so that it can perform offensive cyber operational duty, the paper said.

The West blamed the DPRK hackers for the big attack on websites of the U.S. and south Korea in 2009 but the evidence they put up was simply based on source areas of IP addresses, added the paper.
